Growing Towards Tomorrow

Supporting our Children's emotional wellbeing is a big focus in school.

We do many things to encourage happiness and resilience with our students as well as offering additional support to those children who are having difficulties.

This year in school we have provided:

  • Friendship Groups
  • Anger Management Sessions
  • Individual emotional support with the Family Support Workers
  • Self-Detective Groups to support children in managing their emotions
  • Relax Kids Programme to the whole school
  • Art therapy
  • Calm Club
  • North east Counselling sessions to Individual Children
  • Mental Health week assembly and activities in class
  • Sharing information with parents
  • Referrals to other agencies

You may find this video from the Gateshead Educational Psychologist Department helpful when supporting children who are experiencing bereavement or loss.
This may be particularly pertinent in the light of the recent tragic death of a youth in our local area which has had a huge impact on his family and many local families.
