Growing Towards Tomorrow

History

Crime and Punishment

To begin this unit, we looked at what crime was like during the Roman times and what punishments were like. Then, we looked at Anglo-Saxon Britain and how things changed. We discussed the similarities and differences between modern day Britain and Anglo-Saxon Britain.

We turned our classroom into a court room and set up different trials; we split the class into Anglo-Saxon people, modern day British people and a jury to decide the fate of our criminal.

British Monarchs

As part of our British Monarchs unit, children have been studying different monarchs including Alfred the Great, Henry VIII and many others.
They researched why Alfred was named ‘the Great’ and whether they thought he was.
