Growing Towards Tomorrow

Art

Drawing and Painting

Mood Board

Our art topic this term is leaf art.  We have been looking at leaves in detail and using different techniques to create a piece of art work.

We used actual leaves that we found in the school yard, we looked very closely at the veins and lines on each leaf.  This was a tricky job.

Our end artwork was something to be very proud of! Take a look wink

Street art is any art created in public spaces. Street art is usually unendorsed and carried out in untraditional art spaces.  Most street art is temporary.

We have been learning about different kinds of street art and some famous artists.  One of the famous artists we have been looking at is Banksy.  There is some fantastic street art about.  Here are just a few examples of famous street art.

We created our own 'street art' in the school yard.  It was great fun!

We planned our art work before using chalk on the yard.

Being outside and actually creating artwork was a fantastic experience.  We knew that lots of people will see our work and that we had to try our best.

Frida Kahlo

Click the image above for more information.

As part of our Art topic we researched Frida Kahlo.  We found that she is a Mexican artist and is remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and bold, vibrant colours. She is celebrated in Mexico for her attention to Mexican and indigenous culture and by feminists for her depiction of the female experience and form.

We decided to recreate the famous painting Watermelons.  We also created our own painting based on the same style.

Take a look at our wonderful art work.
