Growing Towards Tomorrow

Curriculum

Our Bespoke Curriculum

Our curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of all pupils at Larkspur.  Our carefully constructed curriculum is underpinned by our Curriculum Vision and Core Values.

Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum. Our pupils are offered a very wide range of experiences to extend their understanding of themselves and the world in which they live. Skills, attitudes and values are developed to prepare the children for the next stage of learning (key stage 1 and 2 ready and secondary ready), and enable them to be successful in the community. We believe that effective learning takes place when there is considerable emphasis on active involvement, opportunities to talk both imaginatively, expressively and to explain and clarify thinking.

We make meaningful connections across subjects. The school expects everyone to develop and show a sense of responsibility and self-discipline whether alone, together, at work or at play, and to support policies on equal opportunities. We actively promote British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs to prepare our pupils for life in modern day Britain.

Curriculum Coordination

Our curriculum is led by our Curriculum Coordinator Miss J Hall.  Subject coordinators have carefully constructed their curriculums collaboratively with support from the SMT, coaching programmes, INSET sessions, LA training and keeping up to date with latest guidance and curriculum developments/research.  They have also used moderation to inform their provision with a large focus on pupil voice through evaluation and discussion.

Our Long Term Plan and Topic Links

Our long term plan outlines the coverage and progression across subjects and through each year group from Early Years to Year 6.  Topic links have been carefully selected to bring together curriculum subjects, making our teaching and learning creative, active where pupils can construct their own learning.

Curriculum Overview for Pupil and Parents/Carers

Each half term your child will receive a curriculum overview detailing what they will be covering in the curriculum.  These can also be found on your child's class page.  If you would like to know more about the curriculum in your child's class, the teacher will be happy to discuss it with you.
