Battery Operated Lights
This term’s design and technology project in year 4 was to design and make a working battery operated light. We had to decide who our lamp was for and then explored circuits and switches in order to finalise our designs. Making them was harder than we thought, but most of us managed to achieve something that looked like our design. Next, we will evaluated our designs! We had great fun!
We looked at circuits on the computer and used a programme to try to make our own.
We made our own circuits with wires, switches, a bulb and a battery. They all worked!
We all made some different shapes to help us to decide which shape would be best for our lights. We used a net of the shape and cut and folded them. This was tricky!
After we did all of our designing, building, electric circuit making and switch testing we made our final designs. Look at how wonderful they turned out...we even tested them in the dark.
Edible Garden
We are helping the staff to find a warm, healthy alternative to their summer lunches. We decided to make a nice healthy soup.
We started by doing some taste testing.
Some were yummy some not so much
Our next task was to learn how to cut the vegetables for our soup. We tried three different ways, the bridge, the claw and the fork secure.
