  • Mrs Clarke Rocks! 27.3.18

    Thu 22 Mar 2018
    Dear Parents/Carers

Larkspur’s school council would like to invite you to the following event on Tuesday 27th March:

    Mrs Clarke Rocks!!

This year the school council’s project is to rejuvenate our school memorial garden.

Two years ago, our Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Clarke, sadly passed away after losing her brave battle with cancer.  Mrs Clarke was a wonderful and inspiring teacher to us all as well as a caring friend and colleague to members of staff.  To honour her memory a garden was created containing a special seat for Mrs Clarke.

Our memorial garden also serves as a place to visit and remember people dear to us who we have lost; making it of great value to the children.  It is a peaceful place to spend time in and find comfort in our memories

Due to many spells of bad weather the garden is in need of tender loving care.

To make our garden bright and beautiful we are going to paint rocks with colourful patterns, pictures and inspiring messages.  These will then be used to encircle the area containing Mrs Clarke’s memorial seat.

On Tuesday 27th March we are holding a ‘Mrs Clarke Rocks’ Memorial Day where we are inviting you to come and work with your child in the school hall and paint rocks. We would greatly appreciate it if you could join in this event. It would also be lovely to see past pupils attending and adding to our garden.

    Year Group                       Time Slot
    Nursery and Reception     9:30 – 10:30
    Year 5 and 6                    10:45 – 11:45
    Year 1 and 2                    1:05 – 2:05
    Year 3 and 4                    2:10 – 3:10

As we will be using acrylic paint, which does not wash off clothes, we would be grateful if you could send some old clothes into school with your child for them to paint in.  We hope that you will join us and enjoy working with your children.

    Thank You.

  • Easter Holiday Club

    Thu 15 Mar 2018

    Dear Parent / Carer

We are delighted to offer you “Holiday Club” over the Easter holidays. We have received funding from Gateshead Council from the “Fill the Holiday Gap” programme aiming to address health and educational inequalities to provide a free Holiday Club.

We intend to run 3 days during the first week of the Easter Holidays from 10.00am to 1.00pm.

Tuesday 3rd April – Reception to Year 2 (40 places)

    Wednesday 4th April – Years 5 & 6 (40 places)

    Thursday 5th April – Years 3 & 4 (40 places)

While it would be fantastic to provide the club every day of the holidays I hope you appreciate that staff work incredibly hard with long hours during term time and deserve their holidays so we are limited in what we can provide.

The programme will be delivered by our school staffing team and children will take part in a range of creative, cooking, craft, sporting or outdoor activities and all children will be provided with a two course lunch by the Council’s Catering Services.

I would be grateful if you could indicate your interest by returning the reply slip sent home with your child by Tuesday 20th March so we can allocate places and continue with planning.

You will be informed if your child / children have a place on Friday 23rd March.

    Yours sincerely

    Mrs Liddle

    Headteacher

  • Year 5 - Dance Festival costumes

    Wed 14 Mar 2018
    Dear Parents/Carers,

Our Dance Festival is fast approaching and we are in the final stages of our practise. To help us with costumes we would greatly appreciate if you could send in outfits for your child.

We are performing ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life’ from Annie. Old, worn clothes, aprons etc will work best. Please could your child bring in their outfit, in a bag, with their name on it. In order to be well organised for the event, we would greatly appreciate if your child’s outfit is at school by Friday 16th March 2018.

To further help with costumes we would greatly appreciate if girls could wear their hair in bunches with a middle parting and if boys could have their hair with a side parting on Wednesday 21st March 2018.

We look forward to welcoming those that can attend on Wednesday 21st March 2018. Remember if you did not purchase a ticket from school in time you may still be able to get tickets by contacting the Sage directly. Year 5 are performing at the 10am-12pm performance on Wednesday 21st March 2018.

A DVD of the performance will be available to purchase from the Sage after the event. We will keep you informed once we have further information about how to purchase this after the event.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

    Kind Regards

    Miss Tahir

  • School Closure - update

Fri 02 Mar 2018 Margaret Liddle

Unfortunately, the weather is still poor and unpredictable.  The roads and paths are still dangerous, with staff unable to make it in, therefore, school will remain closed on Friday 2nd March.

Again, we apologise for the inconvenience caused but the safety of our pupils and staff has to be our priority.

Hopefully, conditions will improve over the weekend and school should be able to open as usual on Monday 5th March.  We will keep you updated.
