Growing Towards Tomorrow

The Arts (Music, Art, Productions)

Panto 2018 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

The children from Key Stage 2 entertained us with a rendition of this famous fairy tale.  Year 6 took the main roles whilst being supported by the children in Years 3, 4 & 5.  There was much fun, laughter, songs and over acting from the children and everyone had a great time.

Art Day for Year 6

Artist from 'The Set of Drawers' paid a visit to the Year 6 classroom for a whole day workshop. The children drew local landmarks with a chopstick and ink, messy but very effective. The next activity consisted of tissue paper and glue, the children chose another landmark and picked out features or colours and created wonderful pictures.

In the afternoon the children carried out a range of activities: chalk drawings of pigeons; collograph printing and a kittiwake collage.

The children had a lovely day and produced some very artistic work.

Larkspur Variety Show 2017

After weeks of practise, the children adorned their costumes, put on their make up and hit the boards.  This year we danced to theme of the decades from the 1950's through to the 2010's and what a musical extravaganza it was.  Hosted by our special guest dj's - Larry Larkin and Steve Spurton, the evening went with a swing, a twirl and a bit of breakdancing.  The children were superb and kept the audience well entertained.  A huge well done to all the pupils, the staff and the dance instructors.

Learning to play the ukulele is great!

In Year 4 we have been learning how to play the ukulele on a Thursday morning.

We have been learning different chords and how to play popular songs

like Ed Sheeran's Shape of You.

We are all very proud of ourselves.

The chords we have been learning are

Am, Em, C, D7 and the tricky chord G.

Even Mrs Knox is learning to play, and like us, is becoming a great player.

Gateshead Music Team Visit

Today the whole school was visited by Gateshead's Music Team.  It was a real treat. Key Stage 1 listened to, sang and performed Disney songs.  The highlight of course, was singing Frozen.  As you can guess, all children knew the words and  joined in enthusiastically.
