Beamish – Climate Change Visit

Year 3 and 4 were very lucky to go on a visit to Beamish. They did a task about their carbon footprint and how it has changed over time.

At first we were transported to the 1820’s in Pockerley Old Hall.

We learned about what a carbon footprint looked like in the 1820’s. It was really low because they had a very sustainable lifestyle back then.

Next we visited the 1950’s town.

The 1950’s had a higher carbon footprint due to the introduction of electricity and transport changes.

To end our day we visited the masonic hall.

In the masonic hall we planted seeds, learned about wind turbines and how they create energy and learned about leaves from different trees.

It was a chilly day but it was so much fun. We even got to have a ride on a tram.
